This course is an introduction to basic skills and procedures related to the Automotive Technology field. Students will be exposed to the rules of safety, which are vital to functioning in the modern technological society. Students will be introduced to the four ASE certifiable areas and informed about career opportunities in the automotive field. Course requirements include the mastery of technology based skills including general maintenance and safety procedures, oil changes, tire balancing, battery servicing and safety, and the safe use of all hand tools related to these procedures. Students will also learn to road test a vehicle to diagnose system problems. In addition, this course will stress workplace professionalism and total quality performance in a work-based
environment.
